Legal Scrutiny Report (LSR)

A Legal Scrutiny Report is a lender-commissioned opinion by a panel advocate confirming that a property is legally fit to be accepted as security for a loan.

The LSR is written for the bank and addresses enforceability of the security rather than the buyer's broader commercial risk. It is narrower in scope than a full Title Search Report and shorter in the period examined, so a borrower should not treat their lender's LSR as a substitute for their own diligence.
