Jamma Land
Also known as: jamma, jamma bane, kodagu tenure
Jamma is a distinctive tenure surviving in Kodagu, historically granted for service, carrying transfer restrictions not found elsewhere in Karnataka.
Jamma holdings, including jamma bane land attached to them, descend from pre-merger Coorg administration and are governed by their own rules on alienation and succession. Whether a particular jamma holding can be sold, and to whom, depends on the class of tenure and the sanction obtained. A Kodagu chain of title cannot be read using mainland Karnataka assumptions.
- What it does not prove
- An ordinary RTC entry over jamma land does not establish that it is freely transferable.

- Karnataka
