Gramthana
Also known as: gramthana, village site, gaothan
Gramthana is the traditional village habitation area, where property is non-agricultural by nature and needs no DC conversion order to be built on.
Because gramthana land is already non-agricultural, it sits outside the conversion regime that governs surrounding farmland. The recurring problem is boundary: Form 9 issued for land lying outside the notified gramthana limit is an irregular record rather than evidence that the land is buildable. Establishing where the gramthana boundary actually runs is the check that matters.
- What it does not prove
- A Form 9 does not establish that the land falls inside the notified gramthana boundary.

- Karnataka
